Located about sixty miles northeast of Atlanta, "The Classic City" offers a unique blend of Southern heritage and contemporary entertainment. Take time to stroll through our vibrant, restored downtown area, where you'll find a wide range of award-winning restaurants, eclectic shops, world-renowned music clubs and friendly neighborhood pubs - all within walking distance of the Robert Osborne Film Festival! Cross over Broad St. and pass through The Arch to the University of Georgia's beautiful North Campus. Try to imagine it covered in Bulldog fans clad in red and black, enjoying tailgate picnics on football Saturdays in the fall.
You may also want to take a drive through our historic districts, located just beyond downtown, which feature antebellum, Victorian and other period homes. View the state's official art collection, a traveling art exhibition or one of our many local galleries. And if you really want to get away from it all, head out to our State Botanical Gardens, where you can enjoy lovely flora and fauna, and take a peaceful walk along the Oconee River.
With so many interesting things to see and do here in Athens, you'll never have a problem filling your time between films!
